Scientific and Islamic Campus
Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) is one of the best universities among 170 Muhammadiyah Universities (PTM) in Indonesia. In teaching and learning activities, UMS implements “Scientific and Islamic Discourses”, which is able to foster an Islamic culture that masters knowledge and skills based on Islamic values according to Muhammadiyah manhaj. Therefore, inculcating an attitude of hard work, honesty, sincerity, patience, high integrity, positive thinking, rational objectivity, fairness and a clean heart for the entire academic community becomes the moral foundation for the development of science, technology, and Islamic sciences in welcoming the era of globalization.
Founded in 1981, UMS always maintains the quality of its educational quality in order to always create competent graduates according to the demands of the times. By holding fast to the noble ideals of educating the nation, UMS always improves its education system so that it can compete in the global arena.
International Relations
Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta is actively developing cooperation with foreign universities. Some of the universities that have had relationships with UMS are Kyung dong University (Korea), National Dong Hwa University (Taiwan), Youngsan University (Korea), Derby University (UK), Kingston University (UK), and Charles Darwin University (Australia). Sheffield University (UK), Nottingham University (UK), Minnesota University (USA), Waterloo University (Canada), Curtin University of Technology (Australia).
Green Campus
Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta is spread across two cities, namely Surakarta and Sukoharjo. Located in a strategic route and the heart of the city, making UMS easy to access from all over the city. With a total area of around 40 hectares, UMS provides a 6.5 ha Educational Forest (Edu Park) which is used as a beautiful public space.
