Revision: Results of Policy Coordination Meeting of Proposal and Thesis Nutrition Science Study Program Year 2021

Proposals and thesis are the final assignments of students as a requirement for graduation. Often students experience various conditions and obstacles in the completion of proposals and thesis. Related to this, policy is needed so that the Study Program (Prodi) as the organizing institution can be a facilitator that can bridge the process of completing student proposals and thesis so that the process can run well.

On Saturday, March 6th, 2021, the Department of Nutrition Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) held a regular meeting online through zoom meeting application that discussed the policy of proposals and thesis. The agenda of the meeting was attended by supervisors and examiners of the proposal of the Nutrition Science Program. The regular meeting of proposals and thesis is part of the Study Program Development Plan (RPPS) of Nutrition Science Study Program with four subjects, including:

  1. Completion of senior student thesis (class of 2014). The graduation deadline is June 2021.
  2. 8th semester student proposal exam.
  3. Proposals for students in the 6th semester
  4. The division of supervisors.

Endang Nur W, M.Si.Med as The Head of Nutrition Science Program of FIK UMS and the leader of the meeting, in her speech revealed that based on Circular Letter No. 7 of 2020 the Ministry of Education and Culture directorate of general of higher education on the policy of applying National Diploma Numbering (PIN) and electronic diploma verification system, which is given to student diplomas will limit the duration of study to a maximum of 14 semesters.

 

Based on the meeting results of the proposal and thesis, the following policies are decided below.

  1. The Proposal Exam Plan for Semester 8 will be held on a scheduled basis in March and April 2021. The schedule will be announced further.
  2. The Proposal Exam is conducted face-to-face (online). Students do not need to present (presentation proposals) because the time provided is directly used to ask and answer related to the student proposal research plan. Students are allowed to create power point research proposal materials to answer questions from the exam testing team.
  3. Students apply for a proposal exam. Registration is open for 5 days. The date will be announced further.
  4. All students are given a proposal exam schedule, but will be prioritized who have already applied and are ready for the proposal exam.
  5. The proposal was taken in semester 6, but the SKS is available in semester 7.
  6. Provision of proposal guidance for students of semester 6 and semester 8 (specifically for critical review type of thesis data).
  7. The title of the proposal may be offered by the supervising lecturer and may be from the student.
  8. The plan to hold thesis exam for 8th semester students is in July-August 2021.
  9. Prodi facilitates and provides full support to students to complete their thesis as soon as possible, especially for the class of 2014.
  10. Data that can be processed for thesis: primary data (online), secondary data research, research in the Laboratory (with health protocols) and critical review.
  11. Students who use critical review data types, should prepare a library review in the student discussion chapter when compiling the results and discussions in the thesis.
  12. The critical review format is compiled by attaching a library review to make it easier for the students.
  13. Drafts of proposals and thesis are equipped with exam discipline.
